What is Live Scan Fingerprinting?

Live-Scan Fingerprinting is the technology used to capture fingerprints electronically - this is a completely inkless process. The applicants digital fingerprints are sent electronically in a matter of seconds to the Department of Justice (DOJ) / Federal Bureau of Investigative Services (FBI). This allows criminal background checks to be processed usually within 72 hours.


Do I need an appointment to get Live Scan done?

No appointment needed, just bring in your Request for Live Scan form and ID.

 

What is a “Request for Live Scan Service” form?

The "Request for Live Scan" form is a government form that is provided by your employer or agency that is requesting a live-scan. If you do not have a form, contact your employer or agency that is requesting you to obtain the Live Scan.

 

How is Live Scan Fingerprinting used?

Live Scan Fingerprinting is used to run a criminal background check of the applicant by the DOJ / FBI. Most employers and agencies require these background checks for employment, licensing, certification, foreign adoptions or VISA/Immigration clearances.

 

What should I bring to your Live Scan Center?

Form of payment for the service - we accept cash, business checks, all major credit cards, apple pay.

Valid government issued identification such as a drivers license or passport.

A completed live-scan request form provided by the Requesting Agency.

 

How do I check my Live Scan results?

Applicantstatus.doj.ca.gov

Enter your ATI number from the bottom of your live-scan form and your date of birth.


Where will the Live Scan results go?

Unless you are doing a personal record review, the requesting agency will be the only one to receive your live scan results.

 

Can my request be expedited for an additional charge?

No. Unfortunately, the DOJ does not offer an expedited process.
